Circuit du Comminges

The Circuit du Comminges was a temporary race course on public roads in the province of Comminges , Haute-Garonne department near Saint-Gaudens , on which car races were held between 1925 and 1952 .

Grand Prix races were held on this racetrack, which had different lengths over the years, in the 1920s and 1930s. The first race in 1925 was won by Frenchman Goury on a Bignan as 1928 was here French Grand Prix driven, with a victory for the British William Grover-Williams ended. The route length was 27 kilometers.

After the Second World War , Formula 2 races were held . The last winners were André Simon and Alberto Ascari , who took turns at the wheel of a Ferrari 500 .

Between 1927 and 1949, the Circuit du Comminges also hosted the French Grand Prix for motorcycles three times . The winners included Frank Longman , Syd Crabtree , Fergus Anderson and Leslie Graham .
