Formula racing

In March 2017 Lundgaard was accepted into the Renault Sport Academy , in the same year he also rose to formula racing with MP Motorsport. He won his first season in Northern European Formula 4 and Spanish Formula 4 straight away. In the Danish Formula 4 , he only started in the race at Ring Djursland . In 2018 Lundgaard switched from the Formula 4 racing series to Formula Renault series. So he went to the Eurocup , where he had to admit defeat by a few points to the master Max Fewtrell . Lundgaard also took part in the Northern European Cup , but was not entitled to collect championship points after the second race weekend. Before the second GP3 race of the 2018 season, Lundgaard was given the chance to make his debut racing in France. In the main race Lundgaard took twelfth place and in the sprint race 13th place and was replaced by Devlin DeFrancesco in the following races .

Due to the good results at Formula Renault, Lundgaard got the chance in January 2019 to compete in the new Formula 3 with ART Grand Prix . In the first race in Spain Lundgaard crossed the finish line first, but had to cede victory to Robert Schwarzman because of a five-second penalty. He received the time penalty because he dropped too far behind the safety car. Lundgaard celebrated his first Formula 3 victory at the main race in Hungary. At the end of the season he finished sixth and was able to leave his two teammates, David Beckmann and Max Fewtrell, far behind. At the Formula 2 season finale in Abu Dhabi, Lundgaard got the chance to take over the Trident cockpit from Ralph Boschung . He finished 14th in the main race and 12th in the sprint race. In the 2020 season, Lundgaard will take part in the Formula 2 championship for ART.
