Naïma lives in Cannes , has just turned 16 and is still undecided about what she wants to become one day. Her mother works in a hotel and would like to see her daughter start an apprenticeship as a cook. Naïma dreams of becoming an actress, even if she emulates her good friend Dodo in the process. She practices texts with him in her free time, as they will soon be attending a casting.
Naïma surprisingly receives a visit from her six-year-old cousin Sofia, who lives in Paris and recently lost her mother. Sofia loves luxury and can afford it, even if Naïma does not know what work she does. Naïma gives her a Chanel bag for her birthday . Together they walk along the harbor and later sunbathe on the beach. Here Sofia aggressively flirts with a young man, who later furiously insults her and Naïma as sluts - an insult that has no meaning for Sofia, as she is not looking for love, but a kick. She wants to live independently.
In the evening Sofia and Naïma meet the much older men Philippe and Andres. Andres is one of the richest collectors in Brazil and a yacht owner. He flirts with Sofia and takes her and Naïma with him on his yacht. Philippe is Andres' collaborator and has the task of expanding his collection. He holds back and takes care of Naïma, who is left alone by Sofia. While Naïma sleeps on the couch for the night, Sofia has fun with Andres. He reciprocates and lets Sofia go shopping at the jeweler at his own expense. Naïma is both repulsed and fascinated by Sofia's casual manner. She would like to be a "dangerous woman", as Philippe calls it, but is too good and shy for that.
After two days, Andres calls Sofia and invites her and Naïma to dinner with other friends. Only Sofia is allowed to follow the group on the yacht. She asks Naïma to bring her some things to the yacht the next day because the group wants to go on an excursion. Naïma is invited to this again and she takes part, even if she misses the casting with Dodo. The excursion leads to Italy to see Philippe's friend Calypso, who wants to make fun of the seemingly naive Sofia, but receives a contradiction from her. On the way back, Sofia and Andres sleep together, while Philippe rejects Naïma's timid flirtation: she is still a child. That night, Naïma wakes up on the yacht - she and Sofia are thrown overboard because Philippe accuses them of stealing one of his collectibles. Naïma is outraged, but Sofia reacts relatively calmly. It turns out that nothing was stolen, but Andres was only looking for an excuse to get rid of his short-term relationship with Sofia. Naïma spends the night in a club and makes up with Dodo, who was successful in the casting even without her. Sofia, however, disappears from Cannes as suddenly as she came. Naïma, who is starting an apprenticeship at the hotel in late summer, learns by email that Sofia has moved to London and is happy there.

An Easy Girl was the fourth feature film directed by Rebecca Zlotowski. She was inspired by an article written in the first person about two married men and two young women who spent time together on a yacht on the Côte d'Azur . In the role of Sofia, Zlotowski cast the former call girl Zahia Dehar, who in 2010 was involved in the “Affaire Zahia” with footballers like Franck Ribéry . Zlotowski was intrigued by Dehar's story and contacted her after Dehar liked one of her posts on Instagram .
Zlotowski wrote the script for the film within three weeks. The shooting took place in 2018 in Cannes, Nice and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat . The scenes at Calypso were filmed in the Domaine du Rayol garden for two days in July 2018 , including in the area of South America, New Zealand, the Maison de la Plage and the Villa Rayolet. The costumes created Isabelle Kerbec that Filmbauten come from Rozenn Le Gloahec .
A light girl had its premiere on May 20, 2019 as part of the Quinzaine des réalisateurs at the Cannes International Film Festival . It opened in French cinemas on August 28, 2019 and was also released in German cinemas on September 12, 2019.

An easy girl won the Prix SACD at the 2019 Cannes International Film Festival. Rebecca Zlotowski was nominated for the Prix Louis Delluc for Best Film in 2019 . At the Munich Film Festival was a loose woman nominated for the ARRI / Osram Award for Best International Film.
