Trident Racing
Trident Racing is an Italian motorsport racing team. Trident has been active in the GP2 series since it was founded in 2006 . Since 2008 it has also been represented in the GP2 Asia series and the international Formula Master . Trident Racing has its headquarters in San Pietro Mosezzo . Team principal and owner of Trident Racing is the music producer Maurizio Salvadori .
Trident Racing in the GP2 series
2006 season
One year after the founding of the GP2 series , Trident Racing joined for the 2006 season . The former Formula 1 racing driver Gianmaria Bruni and Andreas Zuber were signed up as drivers . Bruni won the main races in Imola and Hockenheim , Zuber won the sprint race in Istanbul . At the end of the season, Bruni was seventh overall and Zuber 14th overall; in the team ranking the team took sixth place. The 2006 season is the most successful season in team history so far.
2007 season
For the second year in the GP2 series, Trident Racing engaged the Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado and the Japanese Kōhei Hirate . Maldonado achieved a prestigious victory for Trident Racing in Monte Carlo . As the season progressed, both Hirate and Maldonado achieved second place. Due to a broken collarbone, Maldonado had to end his season, which had gone well up until then, early. He was represented by Ricardo Risatti and Sergio Hernández in the last races of the season. The best Trident Racing driver in the overall standings was Maldonado with eleventh place. They were followed by Hirate in 19th place, Risatti in 28th and Hernández in 36th. The team came tenth in the team classification.
2008 season
In 2008 Trident Racing also started in the first season of the GP2 Asia series . The Latvian Harald Schlegelmilch and the Chinese Ho-Pin Tung were hired as drivers . The best team placement was achieved by Schlegelmilch, who finished fifth in Sachir . In the overall ranking, Schlegelmilch took 18th and Tung 21st place in the overall ranking. Although both drivers scored points, the team was only 13th and last in the overall standings.
In the European GP2 series, Tung stayed with Trident Racing in 2008 . As his teammate, the British Mike Conway was signed . In Monte Carlo, Trident Racing triumphed again and with Conway in first place and Tung in second place, the first double victory for Trident Racing. As the season progressed, the drivers mostly remained unremarkable. In the overall standings Conway was twelfth, Tung 18th and Trident Racing finished ninth overall in the team standings.
2009 season
Trident Racing started again in the GP2 Asia series. In the 2008/2009 season , the team fielded a total of seven pilots with Frankie Provenzano , Giacomo Ricci , Davide Rigon , Ricardo Teixeira , Alberto Valerio , Adrián Vallés and Chris van der Drift . With Rigon, the team achieved the best result of the season with third place in the last race in Sachir. In the overall standings, Rigon took 17th place, van der Drift was 18th. The other Trident drivers didn't score any points. Trident Racing finished ninth in the team classification.
In the European GP2 series, Trident Racing will start with Teixeira and Rigon in 2009 .
Trident Racing in the international Formula Masters
Trident Racing has also been active in the international Formula Masters since 2008 . In the first season, the team deployed Michael Ammermüller and Harald Schlegelmilch, among others . The best Trident driver was Michael Ammermüller, who took third place in the overall standings, but did not contest the entire season for Trident Racing. In 2009 Frankie Provenzano , who was already active for the team in the GP2 Asia series , will compete in the international Formula Master.
