Alessio Lorandi (born September 8, 1998 in Salò ) is an Italian racing driver . He competed in the GP3 series and the FIA Formula 2 championship in 2018 .

Career

Lorandi began his motorsport career in karting in 2004 , where he remained active until 2014. In 2012 Lorandi won the Italian Kart Championship in the KF3 class. In addition, he was second in the KF3 class in the WSK Master Series and the WSK Final Cup and third in the WSK Euro Series . He finished sixth in the FIA ​​World Cup. In 2013 Lorandi won the WSK Super Master Series , the Italian Kart Championship and the CIK-FIA World Championship at junior level . In 2014 Lorandi competed in senior karting. He won the Trofeo Andrea Margutti and the KF2 class of the South Garda Winter Cup . In the WSK Champions Cup and the WSK Master Series Super he finished second in the European championship and sixth in the World Championship 21 Lorandi achieving in any WSK championship, he took in 2012-2014, a top 3 overall placement.

2015 changed Lorandi in Formula racing and decided directly in the 3 Championship Formula Europe at the start to go, after scoring the fastest time during testing in three of four meetings. He received a cockpit at Van Amersfoort Racing . Lorandi achieved a sixth place as the best result and reached the 20th place in the overall classification. In 2016 Lorandi completed his second season in the European Formula 3 championship for Carlin . He achieved his only victory at the Grand Prix de Pau . After the seventh race weekend Lorandi ended his Formula 3 involvement and switched to Jenzer Motorsport in the GP3 series . There he played the last two events of the 2016 season .

In 2017 Lorandi continued to drive for Jenzer Motorsport in the GP3 series. He started the 2018 season again in the GP3 series, but this time with the Trident Racing team . In the overall ranking he finished 11th. After Santino Ferrucci was fired from the FIA Formula 2 championship , he switched to Formula 2 within the team from the race on the Hungaroring . Here he finished the season in 20th place.

Personal

Lorandi is sponsored, among others, by the coffin manufacturer Gruppo Lorandi , the company of his father Sandro. His brother Leonardo, who is two years younger than him, is also active in karting. Alessio Lorandi is managed by Jean Alesi .
