Jack Aitken

Jack Aitken (born September 23, 1995 in London ) is a British racing driver . He has been competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship since 2018 .

Aitken began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 , where he remained active until 2012. In 2012 he made his debut in formula racing . For Fortec Motorsport he competed in the InterSteps Championship . He scored two wins and finished third in the drivers' standings while teammate Matthew Parry won the championship title. At the end of the year he drove for Fortec in the BARC Formula Renault winter series . With 112 to 113 points he was defeated by Seb Morris and finished second overall.

In 2013 Aitken drove for Fortec Motorsports in the Northern European Formula Renault . He achieved five podium finishes and was second behind his teammate Parry with 230 to 289 points. In addition, he made a total of six guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for MP Motorsport and Fortec . In 2014 Aitken drove as a regular starter for Fortec in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. He decided a race for himself and finished the season in seventh place overall. He prevailed against his teammate Parry, who was eleventh. He also made guest starts in the Alpine Formula Renault. He also took part in two races in the Pro Mazda Championship in North America for Team Pelfrey . In 2015 Aitken switched to Koiranen GP and competed in two Formula Renault championships. In the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup he scored the most victories (5) and won the championship. With 206 to 193 points he prevailed against Louis Delétraz . In the Alpine Formula Renault, he won seven races and secured the championship title with 242 to 237 points ahead of his team mate Jake Hughes .

In 2016 Aitken received a cockpit at Arden International in the GP3 series . He won a race and was on the podium six times. He finished the season in fifth place. Internally he was defeated by Jake Dennis with 146 to 149 points. In addition, he competed for RP Motorsport in four races each of the Formula V8 3.5 and the Euroformula Open . He achieved two wins in the Euroformula Open. Aitken switched to ART Grand Prix for the 2017 GP3 series . He won a race and finished 2nd in the championship with 141 points behind George Russell with 220 points. In 2018 he started with the ART Grand Prix in the FIA Formula 2 Championship . He won the sprint race on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and finished eleventh in the overall standings. In 2018 he started for Campos Racing . In April 2019, he completed his first Formula 1 test with Renault in Sakhir. He finished the Formula 2 season with fifth place in the overall standings.

Aitken lost support from the Renault Sport Academy after the 2019 season. In addition to his involvement in Formula 2, Aitken is a reserve driver for Formula 1 Team Williams in the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship .
