Luca Ghiotto (born February 24, 1995 ) is an Italian racing driver . He has been competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship (formerly GP2 series) since 2016 and will drive for the Hitech Grand Prix in 2020 .

Ghiotto began his motorsport career in karting in 2008 , in which he was active until 2010. In 2011 he switched to the single-seater racing and was the Prema Powerteam a cockpit in Formula Abarth . With a second place as the best result, he was sixth in the European and ninth in the Italian standings. In 2012 Ghiotto stayed with the Pream Powerteam in Formula Abarth. He won seven races and was on the podium a total of eleven times. With 246 to 266 points he was defeated by Nicolas Costa and became runner-up. In addition, Ghiotto took part in some races of the Northern European and Alpine Formula Renault for Prema .

In 2013, Ghiotto competed for the Prema Powerteam in several Formula Renault championships. In the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup he won a race and was ninth overall. In the Alpine Formula Renault, Ghiotto won five races and was on the podium a total of eight times. With 211 to 245 points he was defeated by his team-mate Antonio Fuoco and became runner-up.

In 2014 Ghiotto left Prema and switched to International Draco Racing in Formula Renault 3.5 . With a fourth place as the best result, he was 17th in the drivers' championship. Internally he was defeated by Pietro Fantin with 26 to 34 points. In addition, Ghiotto took part in four GP3 races for Trident Racing . He achieved pole position once. In 2015 Ghiotto stayed with Trident Racing in the GP3 series and competed for the entire season. At the second main race in Spielberg he achieved his first GP3 ​​victory. On the Hungaroring and Sochi he won the main race again, and the sprint race in Spa-Francorchamps and as-Sachir . With five wins he was the driver with the most victories together with Marvin Kirchhöfer . In the championship he was still defeated by Esteban Ocon , who had only won one race, with 245 to 253 points.

In 2016 Ghiotto stayed with Trident and switched to the GP2 series . After he had already achieved three podium placements, he won the sprint race in Sepang . He finished the season in eighth place. With 111 to 0 points he clearly prevailed against his teammate Philo Paz Patrick Armand . Ghiotto completed his second season in 2017 for the Russian Time team, which is managed by Virtuosi Racing UK . The GP2 series was renamed the FIA Formula 2 Championship before the season . With a win and a total of 7 podium finishes, he finished fourth in the drivers' championship with 185 points. In 2018 he continued to drive in Formula 2 for Campos Vexatec Racing . He finished the season in eighth place. In 2019 he will continue to compete in Formula 2, but will return to Russian Time.
