Arjun Maini (born December 10, 1997 in Bangalore ) is an Indian automobile racing driver . He will start in the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2018 .

Career

Maini began his motorsport career in 2003 in kart racing , in which he remained active until 2013. Among other things, he won the Indian Junior Championship in 2011. Maini took in 2011 to that of Force India organized competition One From a trillion (German: One of a billion ) part. Force India was looking for a talented, young Indian who would be supported by the Formula 1 racing team over the next few years . Maini won the competition and as a result took part in European kart races.

In 2013 Maini switched to formula racing . He started for Meritus in the AsiaCup Series . With four podium finishes, he finished the season in fourth place. In 2014 Maini competed for Lanan Racing in the BRDC F4 Championship . Maini won four races and went into the final race weekend as championship leader. Maini finished fifth while his teammate George Russell won and won the title. Maini finished second overall, three points behind.

At the beginning of 2015 , Maini took part in the Toyota Racing Series in India. Starting for M2 Competition , he won two races and was on the podium five times. He finished the season in fourth place. Maini then competed for Van Amersfoort Racing in the European Formula 3 championship in 2015 . With a fourth place as the best result, he was 18th in the drivers' championship. In 2016 , Maini switched to Threebond with T-Sport within the European Formula 3 championship . He left the racing series after the fourth race weekend and was 21st overall at the end of the season. Instead, he switched to Jenzer Motorsport in the GP3 series . There, with a second place as the best result, he reached tenth place in the overall ranking. In the 2017 GP3 series , Maini stayed with Jenzer Motorsport. He won a race and was third on the podium again. In the championship he finished ninth.

In 2018 he started for Trident in the FIA Formula 2 Championship . He finished 16th in the championship standings.

Maini's father Gautam Maini and his brother Kuss Maini are also automobile racing drivers.
