Sérgio Sette Câmara (2019)

Sérgio Sette Câmara Filho (born May 23, 1998 ) is a Brazilian racing car driver . From 2017 to 2019 he competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship ; his best result was fourth place in the overall ranking (2019). In the 2020 season, Sette Câmara is a Formula 1 test driver at Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri and he will also be competing in the Japanese Super Formula .

Career

Beginnings in motorsport (2006-2016)

Sette Câmara started his motorsport career in karting in 2006 , where he remained active until 2014. Among other things, he finished second in the Brazilian Kart Championship in 2013. In 2013 he also competed for the ART factory team in the CIK-FIA World Championship. In 2014 he switched to Morsicani Racing on Tony Kart.

In 2014, Sette Câmara also got into formula racing and competed in a few races. He competed for Cesário F3 in the Brazilian Formula 3 championship and achieved seventh place in the drivers' championship with three podium finishes. In 2014 he also took part in an event of the European Formula 3 championship for EuroInternational . In early 2015 , Sette Câmara competed in two Toyota Racing Series events for Giles Motorsport . Fifth place was his best result. Sette Câmara then competed for Motopark in the European Formula 3 championship in 2015 . He was third twice and finished the season in 14th place overall. In 2016 Sette Câmara competed again for Motopark in the European Formula 3 championship. He was also accepted into the Red Bull sponsorship program. With a second place as the best result, he improved to eleventh place in the drivers' standings. He also finished third at the Macau Grand Prix . Red Bull discontinued Sette Câmara's sponsorship at the end of the year.

Formula 2 (2017-2019)

In 2017 Sette Câmara moved to MP Motorsport in the FIA Formula 2 Championship . He won a race and finished second on the podium one more time. In the drivers' championship he finished 12th at the end of the season. In 2018 he switched to Carlin within Formula 2 . He finished the season in sixth place.

In November 2018, McLaren announced that Sérgio Sette Câmara would succeed Lando Norris as test driver . This is promoted to the emergency driver at the side of Carlos Sainz junior . For the 2019 season, the Brazilian driver switched to DAMS within Formula 2. During the season he won the sprint race in Austria and the main race in Abu Dhabi and thus improved to fourth place overall.

Super Formula and Formula 1 test driver (since 2020)

In 2020 , Sette Câmara was signed as a test driver by Scuderia AlphaTauri . In the same role he is also a member of Red Bull Racing . At the same time, he will be competing in the Japanese Super Formula .
