Villeneuve-de-la-Raho ( Catalan: Vilanova de Rao ) is a French commune in the department of Pyrenees-Orientales in the region Occitania . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Perpignan and the canton of La Plaine d'Illibéris . The 3926 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) of the municipality call themselves Villeneuvois (es) .
geography
Villeneuve-de-la-Raho is a banlieue in the south of Perpignan on the Retenue de Villeneuve-de-la-Raho reservoir . The Réart flows through the municipality . Villeneuve-de-la-Raho is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Perpignan in the north, Théza in the east, Corneilla-del-Vercol in the southeast, Montescot in the south and Pollestres in the west.
Here, in the Rivesaltes wine region , u. a. the Muscat de Rivesaltes is also grown.
