Saint-Estève (in Catalan Sant Esteve del Monestir ) is a municipality with 11,658 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitania region in southwestern France . The inhabitants are called Stéphanois or Estevencs (Catalan). Saint-Estève is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Le Ribéral .
geography
Saint-Estève is about four kilometers west of Perpignan on the River Têt and is in the wine-growing regions of Rivesaltes and Côtes du Roussillon and Côtes du Roussillon-Villages .
Saint-Estève is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Peyrestortes in the north, Perpignan in the east, Baho in the west and Baixas in the northwest.
