Pia (in Catalan Pià ) is a municipality with 9035 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitania region in southwestern France . The inhabitants are called pianencs .
geography
Pia is located about five kilometers north of Perpignan and ten kilometers from the Mediterranean coast and is part of the Rivesaltes and Côtes du Roussillon wine-growing regions . Pia is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rivesaltes in the north and west, Claira in the north and east, Bompas in the southeast and Perpignan in the south.
Pia is located on the river Llabanère (also: Llevanera ), in the north the Agly borders the municipality.
