Ponteilla ( Occitan and Catalan : Pontella ) is a French commune in the department of Pyrenees-Orientales in the region Occitania . It is assigned to the canton of Les Aspres and the Arrondissement of Perpignan . The 2,738 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) are called Ponteillanais .

The Canterrane flows through the municipality . In the north, the Canal de Perpignan borders the municipality. Ponteilla is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Canohès in the north, Pollestres in the east, Bages in the southeast, Trouillas in the south, Llupia in the west and Thuir in the northwest. The village of Nyls belongs to the municipality . The wine-growing regions of Rivesaltes and Côtes du Roussillon extend into the municipality .
The A9 autoroute crosses the municipality.
