Espira-de-l'Agly ( Catalan: Espirà-de-l'Aglí ) is a municipality with 3455 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitania region in southwest France . Espira-de-l'Agly belongs to the Arrondissement of Perpignan and the canton of La Vallée de l'Agly . The inhabitants are called Espiranencs .
geography
Espira-de-l'Agly is located about eight kilometers north-north-west of Perpignan and ten kilometers from the Mediterranean coast on the Agly river and is part of the Rivesaltes and Côtes du Roussillon wine-growing regions . Espira-de-l'Agly is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vingrau in the north and north-west, Salses-le-Château in the north and north-east, Rivesaltes in the east, Peyrestortes in the south-east, Baixas in the south and Cases-de-Pène in the west.
