The significant increase in population since the 1960s is mainly due to the proximity to the greater Perpignan area.
economy
In the past, most of the residents of the village lived as self-sufficient farmers from agriculture, which also included, to a small extent, viticulture and cattle breeding. Production surpluses could be sold in the city of Perpignan. Baho is located in the middle of the Rivesaltes and Côtes du Roussillon and Côtes du Roussillon-Villages wine-growing regions .
history
The old fortified place is mentioned for the first time in the late 9th century. A church with the patronage of St. Vincent of Valencia is proven from the year 901. In the 11th century, the place and its surrounding area belonged temporarily to the monastery of St-Michel-de-Cuxa , which was under the direction of Abbot Oliba . In the Middle Ages and in the early modern period up to the Peace of the Pyrenees (1659), the entire area of Roussillon was disputed between France and the Kingdom of Aragón or Spain.
