Cassagnes ( Occitan : Cassanhas ) is a place and a municipality in southern France with 267 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in what is now the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Perpignan and the canton of La Vallée de l'Agly (until 2015: canton of Latour-de-France ). The inhabitants are called Cassagnols .

geography

Cassagnes is located about 22 kilometers west-northwest of Perpignan in the Fenouillèdes . The dammed Agly river extends with its lake Lac de Caramany into the western municipality. Cassagnes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rasiguères in the north and northwest, Planèzes in the north, Latour-de-France in the north and northeast, Montner in the east, Bélesta in the south and Caramany in the west.

The wine-growing regions of Rivesaltes and Côtes du Roussillon touch the municipality.
