The Karacaören-1 dam ( Turkish Karacaören I Barajı ) is located in the Taurus Mountains 60 km north of Antalya in the Turkish province of Burdur .
The Karacaören-1 dam was built in 1977-1990 as a rock embankment dam and dams the Aksu Çayı river . The multi-purpose dam is used for irrigation , energy generation and flood protection . The dam has a height of 93 m above the foundation level and 85 m above the valley floor. The dam volume is 3.5 million m³. The associated reservoir is also partly in the province of Isparta . It has an area of 46 km² and a storage volume of 1234 million m³. The dam is used for irrigation of an area of 9500 ha The hydroelectric power plant of Karacaören-1 Dam has two 16. MW - Francis turbines . The standard work capacity is 142 GWh annually. About 8 km downstream is the smaller Karacaören-2 dam .
