Corneilla-del-Vercol ( Catalan: Cornellà del Bèrcol ) is a French commune in the department of Pyrenees-Orientales in the region Occitania . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Céret and the canton of La Plaine d'Illibéris (until 2015: canton of Elne ). The 2,293 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) of the municipality are called Corneillanais (es) .
geography
Corneilla-del-Vercol is located about eight kilometers southeast of Perpignan on the Agulla de la Mar stream , which flows into the lagoon lake Étang de Canet . Corneilla-del-Vercol is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Théza in the north, Alénya in the northeast, Elne in the east and south, Montescot in the west and southwest and Villeneuve-de-la-Raho in the west and northwest.
Here, in the Côtes du Roussillon wine region , u. a. the Muscat de Rivesaltes is also grown.
