Louis Delétraz (born April 22, 1997 in Geneva ) is a Swiss automobile racing driver . His father is the automobile racing driver Jean-Denis Delétraz . He has been competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship since 2017 . In 2020 he will be working as a test and reserve driver at Haas F1 .

Delétraz began his motorsport career in karting in 2008 , where he remained active until 2011. Among other things, he won the Swiss Vega Trofeo twice . 2009 in the Super Mini class , 2011 in the Junior class . 2012 changed Delétraz in Formula racing and entered the Formula BMW Talent Cup , a competition to training. He finished fourth with a win.

In 2013 Delétraz received a cockpit in the Northern European Formula Renault at Josef Kaufmann Racing . With a fifth place as best result he was 19th in the overall standings, while his teammate Dennis Olsen third overall was. In 2014 Delétraz stayed with Josef Kaufmann Racing in the Northern European Formula Renault. He won a race and was on the podium five times. He finished the season in second place. With 242 to 258 points he was defeated by Ben Barnicoat . He also made six guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . Four times for AVF and twice for Josef Kaufmann Racing. In 2015, Delétraz was accepted into BMW 's sponsorship program and competed in his third season in North European Formula Renault for Josef Kaufmann Racing. He won nine out of sixteen races and won the championship. He prevailed against his teammate Kevin Jörg with 378 to 305 points . In addition, Delétraz competed for Josef Kaufmann Racing in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. In this he was second behind Jack Aitken with three wins and 193 to 206 points . Delétraz also took part in a Formula Renault 3.5 race weekend for Comtec Racing .

In 2016 Delétraz moved to Fortec Motorsport in Formula V8 3.5 , the former Formula Renault 3.5. He won the season opener in Alcañiz and a race in Le Castellet . Delétraz went into the last race of the season as championship leader. He finished fourth and thus lost the championship to Tom Dillmann , who won the race. With 230 to 237 points, Delétraz finished second overall. He also started for Carlin at the last race weekend of the GP2 series in 2016 . In addition, Delétraz contested a few races in the ADAC GT Masters , making his debut in GT racing. In 2017 Delétraz got a regular cockpit at Racing Engineering in the FIA Formula 2 Championship , the former GP2 series. From the race weekend in Belgium, he moved to Rapax . His best race result was a 4th place, in the driver standings he finished 17th at the end of the season. In 2018 he switched to the Charouz Racing System team . He finished the season in tenth place.

Delétraz made his debut in a Formula 1 car at a Pirelli tire test in Abu Dhabi in 2018 for Haas F1 . In 2020 he was announced as a test and reserve driver for the team. The planned announcement as part of the Australian Grand Prix could not take place because the Grand Prix was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
