Career
Dillmann began his career in motorsport in 1992 at the age of three in karting , which he practiced until 2002. 2004 changed Dillmann in Formula racing and launched in different Formula Renault championships. He was most successful in the Belgian Formula Renault 1.6, in which he finished fifth overall with a win. In 2005 Dillmann took part in some races in the French Formula Renault and in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup , but did not score any points. In 2006 Dillmann stayed in both series and improved to tenth overall in the French Formula Renault and eighth overall in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup.
In 2007 Dillmann switched to the Formula 3 Euro Series for the top team ASM Formule 3 . With a second place as the best result, he finished ninth overall at the end of the season. In winter 07/08 he took part in two rookie training courses in the A1GP series, but for the Swiss team and not the French team. In 2008 Dillmann initially stayed in the Euro Series and started for SG Formula , but left the team after three race weekends after Red Bull withdrew as its main sponsor. In the further course of the season Dillmann returned for the one-driver team Jo Zeller Racing for a racing weekend and achieved a third place. In addition, he started the last three races of the season in the Italian Formula 3 Championship , in which he finally finished seventh overall. In 2009 Dillmann couldn't find a cockpit for a whole season either and so he started eight races in the 2009 Formula 3 Euro Series season . It was more successful for Dillmann in the German Formula 3 Cup , in which he won three of the six races in which he competed and finished sixth overall at the end of the season. In 2010 Dillmann stayed in the German Formula 3 Cup. With a total of six victories, he won the championship title ahead of Daniel Abt . He also took part in an Italian Formula 3 race weekend and finished one race in second place.
In 2011 Dillmann started for Carlin in the GP3 series . Already after the first race weekend, in which Dillmann achieved third place, he was replaced by Daniel Morad . For the third race weekend he returned for the Addax team starting in the GP3 series and replaced Dominic Storey . He finished the season in 14th place overall. In addition, Dillmann took part in several Formula 3 races in 2011. He took part twice as a guest starter on a Formula 3 Euro Series weekend and achieved third place as the best result. He also competed in the Grand Prix de Pau and a German Formula 3 racing weekend. At the end of the year he took part in the GP2 Final 2011 for iSport International and finished it in sixth place. In 2012 Dillmann started for Rapax in the GP2 series . At the third race weekend in as-Sachir he won the sprint race. It was his first GP2 win. After the fifth race weekend he lost his cockpit due to budget problems. He took over the car of his team-mate Ricardo Teixeira for one race weekend, and returned to his original vehicle for another race weekend. Dillmann was the best pilot of his team on points and finished 15th overall. After losing his cockpit, Dillmann explained that unfortunately, pilots without talent but with a budget would drive in the GP2 series.
In 2013 Dillmann received a GP2 cockpit at Motopark Academy , which was in charge of the newly founded Russian Time project . In the main races at Silverstone and Monza , he was third. At the last event on the Yas Marina Circuit , Dillmann suffered a neck injury in a collision, so that he was no longer used in the last race of the season. Dillmann finished the season with 92 points in tenth place overall and was thus internally defeated by Sam Bird , who had achieved second place with 181 points. Together with Russian Time, the two won the team classification of the GP2 series. For the 2014 GP2 series , Dillmann had a contract with Motopark Academy. However, since this racing team lost support for the Russian Time project , this commitment did not materialize. As a substitute for the injured André Negrão , he took part in a race weekend for Arden International . He achieved a podium placement with a third place. In the further course of the season he was used for Caterham Racing at three events. At the end of the season he was in 19th place in the overall standings. In addition, Dillmann was active in Porsche brand cups in 2014 . With three wins he came third in the French Porsche Carrera Cup . He took part in three races in the German Porsche Carrera Cup and also made a guest appearance in the Porsche Supercup .
In 2015 Dillmann was given a full-time cockpit in formula racing again. He competed for Carlin in the Formula Renault 3.5 . With two third places as the best results, he finished the season in seventh place. Within the team, he prevailed against Sean Gelael with 122 to 7 points . In addition, Dillmann made his debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2015 and took part in two races for Signatech Alpine . He and his teammates Paul-Loup Chatin and Nelson Panciatici achieved the LMP2 class victory straight away . Dillmann also contested individual GT races for the Bentley Team HTP in the Blancpain Sprint Series and the ADAC GT Masters . In 2016 , Formula Renault 3.5 was renamed Formula V8 3.5 and Dillmann switched to AVF within the championship . In addition to his work as a regular driver, he also acted as a mentor for his team mate Alfonso Celis jr. On the first six race weekends he always came in the top 6, won a race on the Hungaroring and finally led the championship. On the next two race weekends, two eighth places were his best results, so that he lost the overall lead to Louis Delétraz . At the last race weekend in Barcelona , Dillmann finished third in the first race and finally won the last race of the season. So he decided the championship with 237 to 230 points before Delétraz for himself. His team-mate Celis finished eleventh with 55 points.
In 2016/17 Dillmann became a substitute driver for Venturi in the FIA Formula E Championship . He replaced the Paris ePrix the thwarted Maro Engel and denied the second half of the season as a replacement for Stéphane Sarrazin , who to Techeetah was changed. At the end of the season he finished 19th with twelve points in the overall standings.
In 2017/18 Dillmann remained a substitute pilot for Venturi and was deployed as a replacement for Edoardo Mortara in Berlin and New York City , where he finished fourth in the first race. He finished the season again with twelve points in 18th place in the drivers' championship.
For the FIA Formula E Championship 2018/19 Dillmann received a cockpit with the NIO Formula E Team , but he remained without points. At the end of the season finished in 23rd place in the drivers' championship.
