The New York City E-Prix 2019 (officially: 2019 New York City E-Prix ) took place on July 13 and 14 at the New York City Formula E circuit in New York City and was the twelfth and thirteenth races of the FIA Formula E Championship 2018/19 . It was the third New York City E-Prix and the season finale of the fifth season of the FIA Formula E Championship.

After the Bern E-Prix , Jean-Éric Vergne led the drivers' standings with 32 points ahead of Lucas di Grassi and with 43 points ahead of Mitch Evans . A total of eight drivers still had a mathematical chance of winning the drivers' championship. In the team standings, DS Techeetah was 43 points ahead of Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler Formula E Team and 66 points ahead of Envision Virgin Racing .
With Sam Bird (twice), di Grassi and Vergne (once each), three former winners competed in this race.
Race day one
training
In the first free practice, Alexander Sims set the fastest time with a lap time of 1: 09.959 minutes, ahead of Sébastien Buemi and Robin Frijns .
In the second free practice, Oliver Rowland was fastest in 1: 09.695 minutes ahead of António Félix da Costa and Buemi.
Qualifying
Qualifying began at 11:45 a.m. and took place in four groups of five or six drivers each, each group had six minutes in which the drivers could do a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 200 kW and then a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 250 kW were allowed to drive. Buemi was fastest with a lap time of 1: 10.556 minutes.
The six fastest drivers then drove in the first six positions in the individual time trial called Superpole . Buemi secured pole position with a lap time of 1: 10.188 minutes and thus three points. The other positions were occupied by Pascal Wehrlein , Alex Lynn , Daniel Abt , Sims and Bird.

The race lasted 45 minutes plus one lap. Each driver had to activate the attack mode twice; after activation, the vehicle produced a maximum of 225 kW instead of 200 kW for a period of four minutes.
Buemi won the race ahead of Evans and Félix da Costa. It was his 13th victory in the FIA Formula E Championship and the first since the Berlin ePrix 2017 . It was also the first win for Nissan as a powertrain manufacturer in the championship. The remaining points placed were occupied by Sims, di Grassi, Abt, Wehrlein, Bird, Jérôme D'Ambrosio and Oliver Turvey . The point for the fastest lap in the top ten went to Abt.
In the overall standings, Vergne was ahead of di Grassi and Evans, Buemi was now fourth. Only these drivers had a mathematical chance of winning the driver's title. In the teams, Audi shortened the gap to Techeetah. Nissan e.dams was now third, but could no longer arithmetically become champions.
Race day two
training
In the only free practice session on day two of the race, D'Ambrosio set the fastest time with a lap time of 1: 09.712 minutes ahead of Robin Frijns and Sims. The training had to be interrupted because of a loose manhole cover and after an accident by Gary Paffett shortly before the end of the training.
Qualifying

Each group had six minutes in which the pilots were allowed to drive a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 200 kW and then a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 250 kW. Sims was fastest with a lap time of 1: 09.690 minutes.
The six fastest drivers then drove in the first six positions in the individual time trial called Superpole . Sims secured pole position with a lap time of 1: 09.617 minutes and thus three points. The other positions were occupied by Frijns, Buemi, Bird, Stoffel Vandoorne and Abt. Since Buemi did not win the three points for pole position, he could no longer mathematically win the title.

Frijns won the race ahead of Sims and Buemi. The remaining points were placed by Bird, Abt, Rowland, Vergne, Vandoorne, Félix da Costa and Paffett. The point for the fastest lap in the top ten went to Abt.
Vergne secured his second championship title with seventh place, Techeetah won the team championship for the first time.
