The team then competed in the Superleague Formula and the FIA GT1 World Championship ; the races were carried out by various racing teams such as the Astromega team or the Selleslagh Racing Team .

In 2013 the team registered to take part in the new FIA Formula E championship , with the Campos Grand Prix as the racing team . The team was in 2015 by the Chinese electric car - Start-up companies NIO acquired and subsequently renamed. In 2017 the addition to the name NextEV was dropped, and the team has since started with a British racing license.

history

On February 27, 2013, the China Racing Formula E Team was presented as the second team in the newly established FIA Formula E Championship. As a driver under contract were initially Nelson Piquet jr. and Ho-Pin Tung . While Piquet played the entire season, Tung was replaced by Antonio García , then Charles Pic and Oliver Turvey . During the season, the team changed its name and competed with the NEXTEV TCR Formula E Team from the 2015 Monaco ePrix . The team finished the first season in fourth place overall, Piquet won the drivers' title with victories in Long Beach and Moscow as well as three other podium finishes.

In the second season of the FIA Formula E Championship, NEXTEV TCR fielded a vehicle with a self-designed drive under the name NEXTEV TCR FormulaE 001 . Piquet extended his contract, his teammate became Turvey, who made his debut for the team at the last ePrix of the preseason. The drive turned out to be too heavy and too unreliable, so that the team finished the season with only 19 points in ninth and last place in the team standings.

For the third season , the team competed again with Piquet and Turvey, the vehicle with the heavily revised drive was called the NextEV 700R . The team finished sixth in the team standings with 59 points, but the drivers did not achieve victories or podiums. At the end of the season, Piquet left the team and switched to Jaguar Racing .

For the fourth season , Team Turvey and Formula E debutant Luca Filippi registered as the driver of the NextEV NIO 003 . The reserve driver was Ma Qinghua , who represented Filippi at the Paris E-Prix and Turvey at the New York City E-Prix . At the end of the season, NIO took eighth place in the team ranking with 47 points.

In the 2018/19 season NIO competed again with Turvey, his new teammate was Tom Dillmann . The team showed by far the weakest performance of all teams and at the end of the season finished eleventh and last in the team standings with seven points.
