The London ePrix 2015 (officially: 2015 Formula E Visa London ePrix ) took place on June 27th and 28th at the Formula E circuit London (Battersea Park) in London , United Kingdom and was the tenth and eleventh races of the FIA -Formula E Championship 2014/15 . It was the first London ePrix, the fourth and fifth races of the FIA Formula E Championship in Europe and the season finale of the first season of the championship. It was the first ePrix in which two races were held.

After the Moscow ePrix , Nelson Piquet Jr. 17 points ahead of Lucas di Grassi and Sébastien Buemi with 23 points in the drivers' standings . In addition, still had Nicolas Prost , Jérôme D'Ambrosio and Sam Bird theoretical championship chances.
In the team standings, e.dams was 44 points ahead of Audi Sport Abt and 55 points ahead of the NEXTEV TCR Formula E Team . In addition, Dragon Racing , Andretti Autosport and Virgin Racing still had theoretical chances for the championship title.
António Félix da Costa was unable to take part in the race due to a scheduling conflict with the DTM race at the Norisring . Instead, Sakon Yamamoto entered , making his Formula E debut. Also, Simona de Silvestro made her debut in the formula e, she replaced Scott Speed at Andretti Autosport, who had already missed the race in Moscow because of a scheduling conflict and there by Justin Wilson was replaced. Oliver Turvey was the third debutant, replacing Antonio García at NEXTEV TCR. Four days before the first race, Virgin Racing announced that Jaime Alguersuari would not compete in the race; instead, Fabio Leimer , another driver , made his debut in Formula E that weekend. Alguersuari published a statement shortly afterwards in which he stated that the FIA had his racing license suspended for health reasons after he lost consciousness due to dehydration after the end of the Moscow ePrix . Alex Fontana replaced Vitantonio Liuzzi at Trulli, making him the fifth debutant.
Andretti entered the London ePrix with a new paint job, the vehicles were painted orange due to the new partnership with TE Connectivity .
Piquet, Turvey and Yamamoto received a so-called FanBoost for the first race , they were allowed to increase the power of each of their two cars for a maximum of five seconds from 150 kW (204 hp) to 180 kW (245 hp) during the race. Piquet received its fifth FanBoost in a row, Turvey and Yamamoto each received their first.
Buemi, Piquet and Turvey received a FanBoost for the second race . Buemi received his third FanBoost , Piquet his sixth in a row, Turvey his second after the race the day before.
Race day one
training
In the first free practice session, Stéphane Sarrazin set the fastest time in 1: 26.450 minutes ahead of Bird and di Grassi. Training had to be interrupted after D'Ambrosio suffered a suspension break while driving over a bump and hit the track barrier. After the training, the route was changed in turn one in order to avoid this bump. In addition, it was decided to wave yellow flags throughout the race in this corner , and the race was started behind the safety car .
In the second free practice session with a different route, which started late due to the renovation work and was shortened to 20 minutes, Jean-Éric Vergne was fastest in 1: 25.351 minutes ahead of Piquet and Prost. Yamamoto damaged the front wing of his vehicle when he made a driving mistake and then hit the barrier.
Qualifying
Qualifying started at 12:00 p.m. and took place in four groups of five drivers each, each group had 10 minutes to set a fast lap.
Buemi set the fastest lap time of 1: 24.648 minutes ahead of D'Ambrosio and di Grassi. It was his third pole position, with it he received the three bonus points for pole position and reduced his gap to Piquet to 20 points.

The race lasted 29 laps.
The start was behind the safety car, so the positions remained unchanged. The safety car left the track at the end of the first lap, at which point the field was already spread out. At the end of the second lap, Nick Heidfeld was in twelfth place, already 15 seconds behind Buemi.
On the third lap, Piquet used his FanBoost to attack di Grassi on the outside lane before turn eleven . Di Grassi blocked the attack, while the vehicles touched slightly. Piquet had to skip the following chicane, so Vergne attacked him in turn 13 on the outside lane and passed the following chicane when braking. In the seventh lap, Vergne passed di Grassi on the same stalk.
Vergne, di Grassi, Piquet, Turvey, Loïc Duval , Heidfeld pitted on lap 14 to change vehicles, the minimum duration was 79 seconds. Turvey took too long and fell behind Duval and Heidfeld. One lap later, all drivers pitted except for Bird. Daniel Abt , who came back on the track just before Turvey, left the racing line at turn three , so that Turvey passed. A few bends later, Abt drove straight ahead again, so that Sarrazin and Salvador Durán also passed. In the last corner, Abt drove straight ahead once more and hit the track barrier. Bird was the last driver to change vehicles, but his pit stop also lasted too long, so that he fell back to tenth place. After the pit stops, Buemi led in front of D'Ambrosio, Vergne, di Grassi, Piquet, Prost, Senna, Duval, Heidfeld and Bird. Yamamoto parked his vehicle in the pit lane with a technical defect.
One lap after the Abt accident, the safety car was sent out to recover the Abt car. At the end of lap 20 the race was released again. Piquet put di Grassi under pressure and used his FanBoost on lap 24 , but di Grassi blocked the attack. At that time, Heidfeld fell far behind and was only in 15th place. Senna received a drive-through penalty for driving too fast in the pit lane. He took the penalty on lap 28 and dropped from seventh to 17th. Di Grassi drove the fastest lap of the race and caught up with Vergne. Meanwhile, Bird passed Duval. In the penultimate lap he also passed Prost.
Buemi won the race ahead of D'Ambrosio and Vergne. It was Buemi's third win, making him the first pilot to win three races. For D'Ambrosio and Vergne it was their second podium finish in Formula E. The top 10 were completed by di Grassi, Piquet, Bird, Prost, Duval, Turvey and Sarrazin. The two points for the fastest race lap went to di Grassi.
In the overall standings Piquet remained in the lead, but his lead before the last race was only five points over Buemi and 13 points over di Grassi. None of the other drivers had a chance of winning the title. The team standings were already decided by e.dams with Buemi's victory, Audi Sport Abt stayed in second place ahead of NEXTEV TCR.
After the race, the bump in turn one was filled by the organizer and the track in this area was re-asphalted, so that on the second day of the race the original route was driven and there was no need to start behind the safety car.
Race day two
training
In the first free practice session, Duval was fastest with a lap time of 1: 23.690 minutes. The training had to be interrupted twice, initially Turvey stopped on the track with a technical defect, then de Silvestro crashed into the track barrier. Vergne could not take part in this training because he had health problems.
In the second free practice session, Buemi set the fastest time in 1: 23.642 minutes. All 20 drivers took part in the training. The training session was stopped shortly before the end because Yamamoto had hit the barriers.
Qualifying
Qualifying started at 12:00 p.m. and took place in four groups of five drivers each, each group had 10 minutes to set a fast lap.
Sarrazin set the fastest time in 1: 23.901 minutes and secured pole position. It was his first pole position. Qualifying had to be interrupted while the second group was driving because Yamamoto hit the track barrier. So he couldn't set time. After it had rained only lightly at the beginning of qualifying, the rain increased significantly after the second group, so that the drivers in groups three and four had no chance of reaching the lap times of the drivers in the first two groups. They even lagged behind the 110 percent time.

The race lasted 29 laps.
In contrast to the race the day before, the start was standing. Sarrazin remained in the lead, behind which Duval was able to pass his team-mate D'Ambrosio. Buemi passed Bruno Senna and was fifth. Fontana and Abt started very badly and fell back to the end of the field.
At the end of the first lap, Sarrazin was ahead of Duval, D'Ambrosio, Bird, Buemi, Senna, Heidfeld, Durán, di Grassi and Vergne. Behind them were the two NEXTEV TCR team-mates Turvey and Piquet. In the fourth lap, Prost passed Trulli in 13th place. The five drivers at the top were able to break away from Senna and Heidfeld. Leimer damaged the front wing in an attack on de Silvestro, but was able to continue. De Silvestro and Leimer passed Trulli shortly afterwards.
Yamamoto slowed down while attacking Trulli on lap seven, collided with him and hit the barrier. He damaged the suspension of his car and was eliminated. At the end of the lap, Heidfeld stopped with his car in the pit entrance, pushed the car into the pit and switched to the second vehicle there. Vergne received a drive-through penalty for consuming more than the allowed maximum energy of 150 kW. It dropped from ninth to seventeenth place. Buemi used his FanBoost to set the fastest lap of the race to date.
At the end of the 14th lap, Sarrazin, Duval, Durán, di Grassi, Turvey, Chandhok and Fontana pitted to change vehicles, the minimum time for changing vehicles was 80 seconds. Due to a slightly shorter pit stop, Duval was immediately behind Sarrazin, di Grassi passed Durán. One lap later, all the other drivers except Piquet and Trulli, who had consumed the least amount of energy in the first half of the race, pitted to change vehicles. Bird passed D'Ambrosio with a shorter pit stop and came back onto the track right next to Duval. Buemi passed Senna, but turned immediately after the pit stop in turn three , so that Senna passed again. Di Grassi was now directly behind Buemi, but Buemi managed to defend himself against the attacks. Piquet and Trulli pitted a lap later to change vehicles.
After the pit stops, Sarrazin was ahead of Duval, Bird, D'Ambrosio, Senna, Buemi, di Grassi, Durán, Turvey and Piquet. Prost was right behind Piquet and he tried several times to pass. Piquet managed to repel the attacks. Leimer braked himself on lap 19 and hit the barrier, he retired. The safety car went out on lap 20 to rescue the vehicle .
At the end of lap 21 the race was released again. Turvey and Piquet each use their FanBoost , but lagged behind Durán. Bird and D'Ambrosio passed his Duval, who then had to defend himself against Senna. One lap later, Turvey let his team-mate Piquet pass, who passed Durán a few corners later and was one point ahead of Buemi in the provisional overall standings.
Bird drove the fastest lap of the race at this point and caught up with Sarrazin. Buemi used his FanBoost to attack Senna, the vehicles touched. Both were able to continue the race without damaging the car. Heidfeld gave up the race because the energy in his second vehicle was exhausted.
Bird put Sarrazin under pressure and attacked him again and again, so that he had to defend himself and could not save energy. On the penultimate lap there was a little contact between Bird and Sarrazin, but both drivers continued the race in the same order. Buemi tried again to pass Senna, who in turn was stopped by Duval, and repeatedly hit the Mahindra car. Senna complained massively about Buemi's driving style after the race.
Sarrazin won the race but was subsequently given a drive-through penalty that was converted into a 49-second time penalty for using too much energy. So the victory went to Bird before D'Ambrosio and Duval. It was the second win for Bird. D'Ambrosio achieved his third and Duval his second podium finish. The top 10 were completed by Senna, Buemi, di Grassi, Piquet, Salvador Durán , Turvey and Prost. The two points for the fastest race lap went to Bird.
Seventh place was enough for Piquet's first championship title in the FIA Formula E Championship, one point ahead of Buemi. In the team standings, Dragon Racing took second place with two podium places.
