history
IndyCar Series
In 2007 the team made its debut at the Indianapolis 500 with driver Ryan Briscoe , the car was leased from the Penske team. Briscoe, actually a regular Penske driver in the American Le Mans Series in a Porsche RS Spyder , achieved fifth place.
In 2008 the team started with Tomas Scheckter as driver in six races of the IndyCar Series , Scheckter's best result was a 21st place. In 2009 , the team contested the first full season in the IndyCar Series, the reigning Indy Lights champion Raphael Matos was signed as the driver. Matos finished the season in 13th place and was named Rookie of the Year .
In 2010 , Matos stayed with the now de Ferran Luczo Dragon Racing team, and a second vehicle was used for Davey Hamilton at the Indy 500 and the Chicagoland Speedway . Before the Indy 500, Luczo's name was deleted from the team name because it was too long. With two fourth places, Matos achieved 15th place overall as the best result.
At the end of the season, Matos was fired and Tony Kanaan was hired as a driver for the 2011 IndyCar Series . However, since the team could not find a sponsor, the team was disbanded in February 2011. In April 2011 Jay Penske announced to reactivate the team under the name Dragon Racing and to compete in five races of the IndyCar Series with Paul Tracy . In addition, the team used two vehicles for Ho-Pin Tung and Scott Speed on the Indy 500 . After an accident during training, Tung dropped out for the race, instead he contested the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma for the team later in the season . Since Speed could not qualify, Patrick Carpentier took over the car on the last day of qualification , but also had an accident, so that Dragon Racing did not compete in the Indy 500.
For 2012 the team announced that it would contest the entire season with two vehicles under the name Lotus-Dragon Racing . Sébastien Bourdais and Katherine Legge were introduced as drivers, while Lotus was supposed to be the engine supplier . After the Lotus engines proved to be non-competitive in the first four races, the team switched to Chevrolet immediately before the Indy 500 and renamed themselves again to Dragon Racing . However, since after the Indy 500, Chevrolet had no capacity to provide engines for both Dragon vehicles, the team became a one-car team. Bordais contested the remaining races on street courses, Legge the oval races and the race in Sonoma . The drivers finished 25th and 26th in the overall ranking.
In 2013 Bourdais stayed with the team, Legge was replaced by Sebastian Saavedra . Bourdais reached three podium positions and finished 12th in the overall standings, Saavedra did not get past 21st place. At the end of the season, the team announced that it would withdraw from the IndyCar Series and concentrate on the FIA Formula E Championship.

After the vehicle called PENSKE EV-2 proved not to be competitive at the season opener in Hong Kong , Jani left the team. His successor was José María López . The team achieved a podium finish and finished ninth in the team standings with 41 points at the end of the season.
