The Rome E-Prix 2019 (officially: 2019 Geox Rome E-Prix ) took place on April 13th at the Circuito cittadino dell'EUR in Rome and was the seventh race of the FIA Formula E Championship 2018/19 . It was also the start of the voestalpine European Races , a special ranking within the championship. It was the second Rome E-Prix.

After the Sanya E-Prix , António Félix da Costa was leading the drivers' standings with one point ahead of Jérôme D'Ambrosio and eight points ahead of Jean-Éric Vergne and Sam Bird , who were tied on points . In the team standings, Virgin Racing tied on points with Mahindra Racing , both were one point ahead of Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler .
At Dragon Racing , Maximilian Günther replaced Felipe Nasr in this race , as Nasr was unable to participate due to his involvement in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship . Nelson Piquet Jr. was replaced at Jaguar Racing by Alex Lynn before the race . It was the first E-Prix in which Piquet did not participate.
With Bird, a former winner entered this race.
Daniel Abt , Sébastien Buemi , Lucas di Grassi , Félix da Costa and Stoffel Vandoorne received a so-called fan boost in the race ; after the 23rd minute of the race, they were allowed to increase the power of their vehicle to 240 kW to 250 kW and thus up to 100 kilojoules Use energy additionally. Buemi received his 33rd Fanboost in the FIA Formula E Championship, di Grassi his 29th and Abt his 24th. Felix da Costa and Vandoorne each received the additional energy for the seventh time, each time this season.

In the first free practice Oliver Rowland set the fastest time in 1: 29.738 minutes ahead of Vergne and di Grassi.
Vergne drove the fastest lap in the second free practice in 1: 29.270 minutes ahead of Félix da Costa and Buemi.
Qualifying
Qualifying began at 12:00 p.m. and took place in four groups of five or six drivers each, each group had six minutes in which the drivers could do a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 200 kW and then a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 250 kW were allowed to drive. André Lotterer was fastest with a lap time of 1: 29.761 minutes.
The six fastest drivers then drove in the first six positions in the individual time trial called Superpole . Before the Superpole it rained briefly, but the track then dried up again. Lotterer secured pole position with a lap time of 1: 32.123 minutes and thus three points. The other positions were occupied by Mitch Evans , José María López , Vandoorne, Günther and Buemi. With these three points, DS Techeetah took the lead in the team classification.

The race lasted 45 minutes plus one lap. Each driver had to activate the attack mode twice; after activation, the vehicle produced a maximum of 225 kW instead of 200 kW for a period of four minutes.
Evans won the race ahead of Lotterer and Vandoorne. It was the first victory for Evans and Jaguar Racing in the FIA Formula E Championship. For Vandoorne and HWA Racelab it was the first podium result in the championship. The remaining points were placed by Robin Frijns , Buemi, Rowland, di Grassi, D'Ambrosio, Félix da Costa and Wehrlein. The point for the fastest race lap for the top ten went to Buemi.
D'Ambrosio again took the lead in the overall standings from Félix da Costa, Lotterer was now third. In the team standings, DS Techeetah was now ahead of Virgin and Audi.

- ↑ Félix da Costa subsequently received a five-second penalty because his battery charge level on the grid did not match the specified parameters.
