Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler

Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler , previously Audi Sport Abt and ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport , is a German motorsport team that is based in Kempten and was founded to participate in the FIA Formula E championship .

The team, which was initially integrated into the Abt Sportsline team , had belonged to a company called Abt Formula E GmbH , a subsidiary of Abt Sportsline , since October 2016 and was headed by Hans-Jürgen Abt . In July 2017, Audi then took over all the shares in the team, with Allan McNish becoming the new team boss .

In 2014/15 the team competed in the newly founded FIA Formula E championship under the name Audi Sport Abt . Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi were signed as drivers . Di Grassi won the first race, the Beijing ePrix 2014 . After the team had been in second place in the championship for a long time, the season ended in third place in the team standings. Di Grassi was also third in the drivers' championship, while Abt was eleventh.

In the second season , the team competed under the name ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport . ABT Sportsline was named as one of the eight championship designers; Schaeffler developed the drive for the vehicle on behalf of the team, which was named ABT Schaeffler FE01 . The contracts with both drivers have been extended. Di Grassi won three races, achieved four more podium finishes and finished second in the drivers' standings, Daniel Abt finished seventh with a total of three podium finishes. In the team competition, ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport took second place.

The team also competed with the same drivers in the third season ; the vehicle with the further developed drive train was named ABT Schaeffler FE02 . The team again achieved second place in the team classification. Di Grassi won the drivers' title for the first time with two wins and five further podium finishes, while Abt was eighth at the end of the season. In July 2017, immediately after the end of the season, Audi AG took over all shares in the Formula E team. Abt will continue to look after the operations on the racetrack.

In the fourth season , the team competed under the name Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler with the vehicle called Audi e-tron FE04 , the driver pairing remained unchanged. After the team had to complain about massive reliability problems in the first races and after the fourth race of the season, the Santiago E-Prix , finished eighth in the team classification with 12 points, Abt and di Grassi achieved four wins and seven more in the following eight races Podium placements. At the end of the season, the team won the team championship for the first time with 264 points. Di Grassi was also runner-up behind Jean-Éric Vergne .

In the 2018/19 season , Audi competed again with the driver duo Abt and di Grassi. Di Grassi won two races and took third place in the drivers' standings, while Abt was seventh with two third places as the best results. The team finished second in the team ranking with 203 points.
