The Berlin ePrix 2017 (officially: 2017 FIA Formula E Berlin ePrix ) took place on June 10th and 11th on the Formula E race track Berlin (Tempelhof) in Berlin and was the seventh and eighth races of the FIA Formula E Championship 2016/17 . It was the third Berlin ePrix, but for the first time two races were held as part of the event.
report
background
After the Paris ePrix , Sébastien Buemi led the drivers' standings with 43 points ahead of Lucas di Grassi and with 74 points ahead of Nicolas Prost . In the team standings, Renault e.dams was 75 points ahead of ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport and 103 points ahead of Mahindra Racing .
After the race in 2016 took place on a street circuit around Strausberger Platz , it returned to Tempelhof Airport in 2017 , but with a new route layout. The construction work for the track began on May 29th, 13 days before the first race. So that the drivers had to choose different strategies for both races, different race distances were chosen for both race days: 44 laps on June 10 and 46 laps on June 11.
After they had to skip the race in Paris due to an overlap with the DTM , Maro Engel and Loïc Duval competed in this race again.
Venturi announced ahead of the race that Tom Dillmann was replacing Stéphane Sarrazin with immediate effect . Sarrazin moved to Techeetah , where he drove in place of Esteban Gutiérrez . Gutiérrez switched to the IndyCar Series , where he was the substitute driver for Sébastien Bourdais, who had an accident in qualifying for the Indy 500 . Since driver changes in the two weeks before a race are prohibited according to the sporting regulations, the race stewards imposed a fine of 5000 euros on Venturi. Techeetah was not punished because the team had a valid contract with Gutiérrez to participate in the race and Gutiérrez broke it. Instead of issuing a penalty, the breach of contract was referred to the FIA Tribunal.
Di Grassi injured himself on Tuesday before the race at a charity soccer game at Stamford Bridge , but competed in the races despite the alleged injury to his ankle . In the week after the Berlin ePrix, an examination in the run-up to the Le Mans 24-hour race found a broken fibula, di Grassi had to undergo an operation and would not participate in Le Mans.
With Jérôme D'Ambrosio and Buemi, two former winners competed in this race.
Daniel Abt , Buemi and di Grassi received a so-called FanBoost in the first race , they were allowed to increase the output of their second vehicle to up to 200 kW and thus use up to 100 kilojoules of additional energy. Buemi and di Grassi each received the seventh FanBoost in the seventh race of the season and the fourteenth each in the FIA Formula E Championship, for Abt it was the fifth FanBoost this season.
These three pilots received a FanBoost again in the second race . Buemi and di Grassi each received the eighth FanBoost in the eighth race of the season and the fifteenth each in the FIA Formula E Championship, for Abt it was the sixth FanBoost this season.

The remaining points were placed by López, Nicolas Prost , Daniel Abt , Bird, Vergne, Engel and Oliver Turvey . Buemi, who crossed the finish line in fifth place, was disqualified because the tire pressures were too low. For the first time since the Miami ePrix 2015, he stayed with an ePrix without points, and since then he has always finished in the top ten, or achieved pole position or the fastest race lap. The point for the fastest race lap went to Mitch Evans .
