The Formula E racetrack Berlin (Strausberger Platz) is a temporary street circuit in Berlin ( Germany ) for Formula E races with a length of 2.030 km. On May 21, 2016, a race took place on this track for the first time as part of the FIA Formula E Championship 2015/16 .
history
After the Berlin ePrix 2015 took place on a temporary course at Berlin-Tempelhof Airport , the hangars and the covered main hall of the airport were needed for refugee registration and accommodation from the end of 2015 due to the persistently high number of refugees . Use for the Berlin ePrix was therefore excluded for 2016.
Route
The route leads over Karl-Marx-Allee towards the west, where after the start it describes a hairpin curve to the left and leads to Strausberger Platz . There is a left-right chicane here before the route turns right at the roundabout onto Lichtenberger Straße heading south. There are two 90-degree left-hand bends before the route goes through the roundabout again, which it leaves in a northerly direction towards United Nations Square . After a few meters there is another hairpin left-hand bend that leads the route back one more time to the roundabout, from where it turns east again onto Karl-Marx-Allee.
