The Berlin E-Prix 2019 (officially: 2019 BMW i Berlin E-Prix presented by CBMM Niobium ) took place on May 24th and 25th on the Formula E race track Berlin (Tempelhof) in Berlin and was the tenth race of the FIA -Formula E Championship 2018/19 . It was the fifth Berlin E-Prix and the first E-Prix in the FIA Formula E Championship , in which the racing day consisting of two free practice sessions, qualifying and races was split over two days.

After the Monaco E-Prix , Jean-Éric Vergne led the drivers' standings with one point ahead of André Lotterer and six points ahead of Robin Frijns . In the team standings, DS Techeetah was 38 points ahead of Virgin Racing and 44 points ahead of Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler .

With Sébastien Buemi (twice), Daniel Abt and Jérôme D'Ambrosio , three former winners competed in this race.

In the first free practice, Mitch Evans set the fastest time in 1: 08.162 minutes ahead of Edoardo Mortara and Stoffel Vandoorne .

In the second free practice, Lotterer was fastest with a lap time of 1: 07.401 minutes ahead of Mortara and Alexander Sims .

Qualifying

Qualifying began on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. and took place in four groups of five or six drivers each, each group had six minutes in which the drivers could do a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 200 kW and then a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 250 kW. Vandoorne was fastest with a lap time of 1: 07.619 minutes.

The six fastest drivers then drove in the first six positions in the individual time trial called Superpole . Buemi secured pole position with a lap time of 1: 07.295 minutes and thus three points. The other positions were occupied by Vandoorne, di Grassi, Gary Paffett , Alex Lynn and Alexander Sims .

The race lasted 45 minutes plus one lap. Each driver had to activate the attack mode twice; after activation, the vehicle produced a maximum of 225 kW instead of 200 kW for a period of four minutes.

Di Grassi won the race ahead of Buemi and Vergne. The remaining points were placed by António Félix da Costa , Vandoorne, Abt, Sims, Oliver Rowland , Sam Bird and Pascal Wehrlein . The point for the fastest lap in the top ten went to di Grassi.
