Techeetah Formula E Team

The Techeetah Formula E Team (spelling: TECHEETAH) is a Chinese motorsport team that has been competing in the FIA Formula E Championship since the 2016/17 season . It is located on the sports marketing company SECA ( S ports E ntertainment C ontent A ctivation) owned by the Chinese corporation China Media Capital and went in 2016 from the team Aguri forth.

In April 2016, the Aguri team announced that team founder Aguri Suzuki was leaving the team and that discussions were underway with a new investor. On July 1, 2016, the organizers of the FIA ​​Formula E Championship announced that the team would enter the 2016/17 season under the name Techeetah . In the debut season, the team competed with the Renault drive unit, which Renault e.dams also used, making it the only customer team in the championship. Part of the staff was taken over by the Aguri team, so Mark Preston is still team boss, Leo Thomas also remained technical director.

Ma Qinghua and Jean-Éric Vergne were confirmed as drivers a few days later . Qinghua was replaced after three races of the season by Esteban Gutiérrez , who in turn was replaced after three races by Stéphane Sarrazin . The team ended the first season with one win and six more podium finishes in fifth place in the team standings.

In the season 2017/18 Techeetah joined with Vergne and André Lotterer on. Once again, the team took to the start with the Renault drive unit and was the only customer team in the championship. Vergne won four races, achieved two more podium finishes, and scored points in every race of the season, winning the drivers' title for the first time. Lotterer ended the season as the best rookie with two podium finishes in eighth place overall. At the end of the season, the team finished second in the team ranking with 262 points.

In the 2018/19 season , Techeetah competed as a works team with drives from DS Automobiles . Vergne won three races and again won the driver's title, Lotterer finished eighth overall with two second places as the best results. The team won the team championship for the first time with 222 points.
