report
background
After the Berlin E-Prix , Jean-Éric Vergne led the drivers' standings with 40 points ahead of Sam Bird and 76 points ahead of Felix Rosenqvist . Apart from these drivers, only three other drivers had a mathematical chance of winning the championship. In the team standings, Techeetah was 44 points ahead of Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler and 66 points ahead of DS Virgin .
There was a driver change before the race: Edoardo Mortara returned to the cockpit at Venturi after he was replaced by Tom Dillmann in Berlin . Mortara was unable to attend because he was competing in the DTM at the Lausitzring at the same time .
Since the approval of the race provided for the establishment and control of a speed limit , a speed limit of 220 km / h was applied on the route. However, this had no effect, as the vehicles could not reach this speed on the course due to their design.
Since the pit lane was not asphalted, but the track surface was made of cobblestone , the pit lane speed limit was reduced from 50 km / h to 30 km / h.
Daniel Abt , Sébastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi received a so-called FANBOOST , they were allowed to increase the output of their second vehicle once to up to 200 kW and thus use up to 100 kilojoules of additional energy. For Abt it was the eighth, for Buemi the ninth and for di Grassi the fifth FANBOOST this season.
training
Di Grassi was fastest in the first free practice with a lap time of 1: 11.995 minutes ahead of Mitch Evans and Daniel Abt .
In the second free practice, Rosenqvist was fastest in 1: 12.207 minutes ahead of Evans and Jérôme D'Ambrosio .
Qualifying
Qualifying began at 2 p.m. and took place in four groups of five drivers each, each group had six minutes in which the drivers could do a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 170 kW and then a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 200 kW were allowed to drive. Evans was fastest with a lap time of 1: 12.594 minutes.
The five fastest drivers then drove in the first five positions in the individual time trial called Superpole . Evans secured pole position with a lap time of 1: 12.811 minutes and thus three points. It was the first pole position for Evans and Jaguar Racing in the FIA Formula E Championship. The other positions were occupied by André Lotterer , D'Ambrosio, Bird and José María López .
López received a starting place penalty of three places for not slowing down sufficiently in free practice with yellow flags. He also received two penalty points. Lynn was also moved three places back because he had driven into the pit lane's fast lane in qualifying before the lights at the end of the pit lane turned green.
run
The race lasted 39 laps.
Di Grassi won the race ahead of Bird and D'Ambrosio. The remaining points were placed by Lotterer, Buemi, Heidfeld, Evans, António Félix da Costa , Oliver Turvey and Vergne. The point for the fastest race lap went to Lotterer.
Bird thus shortened the gap to Vergne in the overall standings, only these two drivers were able to win the championship. Di Grassi was now third. In the team ranking, the first three places remained unchanged.
