The Marrakech E-Prix 2020 (officially: 2020 ABB Formula E Marrakesh E-Prix ) took place on February 29th at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay el Hassan in Marrakech and was the fifth race of the FIA Formula E championship 2019/20 . It was the fourth Marrakech E-Prix.

After the Mexico City E-Prix , Mitch Evans led the drivers' championship with one point ahead of Alexander Sims and eight points ahead of António Félix da Costa . In the team standings, BMW i Andretti Motorsport was 14 points ahead of Jaguar Racing and 15 points ahead of Mercedes-Benz EQ .
With Sébastien Buemi and Jérôme D'Ambrosio (one each), two former winners competed in this race.
training
The first free practice took place the day before the race. Jean-Éric Vergne could not take part in the training due to health problems and was replaced in this training by James Rossiter . António Félix da Costa was fastest with a lap time of 1: 17.863 minutes ahead of Evans and Maximilian Günther .
Evans set the fastest time in the second free practice session in 1: 17.309 minutes ahead of Lucas di Grassi and Robin Frijns .
Qualifying
Qualifying began on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and took place in four groups of six drivers each, each group had six minutes in which the drivers had a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 200 kW and then a maximum of one timed lap with an output of 250 kW were allowed to drive. Günther was fastest with a lap time of 1: 17.562 minutes and received one point. Evans crossed the timekeeping line too late and was therefore without a lap time.
The six fastest drivers then drove in the first six positions in the individual time trial called Superpole . Félix da Costa secured pole position with a lap time of 1: 17.158 minutes and thus three points. The other positions were occupied by Günther, André Lotterer , Nyck de Vries , Edoardo Mortara and Buemi.

The race lasted 45 minutes plus one lap. Each driver had to activate the attack mode twice; after activation, the vehicle produced a maximum of 235 kW instead of 200 kW for a period of four minutes.
Félix da Costa won the race ahead of Günther and Vergne. The remaining points were placed by Buemi, Mortara, Evans, di Grassi, Lotterer, Oliver Rowland and Sam Bird . The point for the fastest lap in the top ten went to Evans.

- ↑ a b Vergne had to skip the first free practice session for health reasons, instead Rossiter drove the car with starting number 25. Vergne took over the vehicle again before the second free practice session.
