Menhir Pierrefiche
The approximately 3.8 m high menhir Pierrefiche (also Pierre-Fiche) stands near the road D43, north of Simandre-sur-Suran near Bourg-en-Bresse in the north of the Ain department in France . Its shape resembles Burgundian menhirs of the middle Neolithic (4200-3600 BC)
Ancient sources mention two nearby stones that were removed in the 18th century. It is the only known menhir in Ain and one of the few attested megalithic monuments in the department. The menhir was classified as a monument historique as early as 1888, making it the oldest monument in the department.
In the hamlet of Pierrefiche in the Département Sarthe stands the roughly 3.3 m high, 2.0 m wide and 0.5 m thick heavily pitted menhir de la Pierre Fiche .
Legend
According to a legend , the menhir and its two neighbors were planted there by three fairies .
