Michela Cerruti (born February 18, 1987 in Rome ) is an Italian racing driver . She is a daughter of the racing driver Aldo Cerruti .

She started in the Superstars Series in 2010 and 2011 and is the first woman to win a race in this championship. In 2014 she competed in the Auto GP . She also became the first winner in this racing series. She also drove in the FIA Formula E championship in 2014/15 .

Career

Cerruti came to motorsport through her father . In 2006 he registered her for a driver safety training course with Mario Ferraris, a son of the racing team operator Romeo Ferraris. Ferraris was so taken with Cerruti's achievements that he convinced her father to let her compete.

In 2008 Cerruti made her debut in the Italian Touring Endurance Championship, which she also competed in in 2009. In 2010 Cerruti competed for the Romeo Ferraris racing team in a Mercedes C63 AMG in the Superstars Series , an Italian touring car racing series. With a seventh place as the best result, she was 27th in the Italian and 30th in the international ranking. She also competed in the Italian GT Championship for Romeo Ferraris and finished the season in 14th place in the GT Cup standings. In 2011 she stayed with Romeo Ferraris and played her second season in the Superstars Series. At the season opener in Monza , she finished the first race in second place. In race two at Monza, Cerruti took the win, becoming the first woman to win a Superstars Series race. After this race she led both the Italian and the international standings. In the further course of the season there were no further podiums and she ended the season in eighth place in the Italian and ninth place in the international ranking.

At the end of 2011, Cerruti made his first experiences in the monoposto during GP3 test drives . She became the second woman after Andrina Gugger to drive a GP3 car. At the beginning of 2012 , Cerruti took part in a formula racing series for the first time and competed for Victory Motor Racing in the Toyota Racing Series , New Zealand's highest monoposto series. With three tenth places as the best results, she was 16th in the overall classification. She then switched to the European F3 Open , where she competed for RP Motorsport . After failing to make it into the top 10 on the first three race weekends, she left the racing series and entered the German Formula 3 Cup later in the 2012 season . Starting for EuroInternational , she finished 15th in the drivers' championship with a tenth place as the best result. In 2012, Cerruti was also active in GT racing. With one win she finished tenth in the GT3 classification of the Italian GT championship. She also took part in a race in the Blancpain Endurance Series .

In 2013, Cerruti was again active in several disciplines. In GT racing, she drove in the Italian GT Championship, where she was eighth in the GT3 standings with one win, and in the Blancpain Endurance Series, where she finished ninth in the GT3 Pro Am with a podium finish. Cup reached. In formula racing , Cerruti returned to Romeo Ferraris in 2013 and competed in three European Formula 3 championship events for the racing team . In 2013 Cerruti also took part in four Auto GP races for the MLR71 Racing Team . She came in the points twice. In the touring car she completed a race in the Eurocup Mégane Trophy . In 2014 , Cerruti focused on her involvement in the Auto GP. She received a cockpit at Super Nova International . Cerruti won a race in Imola and became the first ever winner in the Auto GP. She finished the season in sixth place in the drivers' championship. In the 2014/15 season she competed in the newly established FIA Formula E Championship . She received a cockpit in the Trulli Formula E Team , which was supervised by Super Nova. Shortly before the fifth race, Cerruti ended her Formula E involvement of her own accord. Twelfth place was her best result.

In 2015 , Cerruti participated in a TCR International Series event for Target Competition .
