Super Nova Racing is a British motorsport team that is currently active in the Auto GP World Series ; the team also looks after the Trulli Formula E team's appearances in the FIA Formula E championship . Team principal is David Sears .

Super Nova Racing was founded in 1991. The team emerged from the David Sears Motorsport team and was sponsored by Nova, a language school chain operating in Japan.

Super Nova drove in the international Formula 3000 championship from 1994 to 2004 and took part in the successor series GP2 from 2005 to 2011 .

history

Formula 3000

Super Nova competed in the international Formula 3000 championship from 1994 to 2004 . In eleven Formula 3000 seasons, Super Nova won the team championship five times, four titles in the drivers’s championship, 27 races and 26 pole positions. Together with DAMS and Arden International , Super Nova is therefore one of the best Formula 3000 teams.

GP2 series

Super Nova participated in the GP2 series from 2005 to 2011 . In the 2008 season first Christian Bakkerud and Álvaro Parente drove for the team; Bakkerud was replaced by Andy Souček after the third race weekend . The team also started with Bakkerud and Fairuz Fauzy in the GP2 Asia series, which was held for the first time in 2008 . In the second season of this racing series, Super Nova is represented by Javier Villa and James Jakes .

A1GP

The team has also participated in all seasons of the A1 Grand Prix so far . Since the first season 2005/2006, Super Nova has provided the racing team for A1 Team Germany , which won the 2006/2007 racing series. Since that season, Super Nova has also been working for the A1 Team New Zealand . In the 2005/2006 season it also provided the racing team for A1 Team Pakistan .

Formula E.

In the newly founded FIA Formula E Championship , Super Nova took over the support of the Trulli Formula E Team's racing operations from the 2014/15 season .
