In 2008 Bakkerud started both in the regular GP2 series and in the GP2 Asia series for the Super Nova team . In the GP2 Asia series he was again unable to score points, while his teammate Fairuz Fauzy won a race, among other things. In the GP2 series in 2008 , he suffered another back injury in the first race after a collision with Ben Hanley . At the second race weekend in Istanbul he was therefore replaced by Souček. Bakkerud took part again in the third round of the series in Monaco , but then had to end the season early. His cockpit was taken over by Souček. In the overall standings he was 27. Bakkerud's best GP2 result was ninth.
