Oliver Jarvis (born January 9, 1984 in Burwell , Cambridgeshire ) is a British racing driver . He was active in the DTM from 2008 to 2011 and drove for Abt Sportsline in 2010 and 2011 .

Career

Jarvis began his motorsport career in karting in 1993 and was active in this sport until 2001. In 2002, in the single-seater racing and was seventh in the British Formula Ford . In the following winter championship, he finished third overall. In 2003 Jarvis stayed in the British Formula Ford. He achieved three podiums and finished the season in eighth place overall. After the season he switched to the winter series of the British Formula Renault and was 14th in the drivers' championship. In 2004 he competed for Motaworld Racing in the British Formula Renault and finished the season in eighth place. He then finished third in the British Formula Renault winter series for Manor Motorsport . In 2005 Jarvis stayed with Manor Motorsport in the British Formula Renault. He won five out of twenty races and won the championship title. He also took part in two races of the Dutch Formula Renault.

In 2006 Jarvis moved to Carlin Motorsport in the British Formula 3 Championship . He won three races and was runner-up behind Mike Conway with 250 to 321 points . He also replaced Hayanari Shimoda at Victory Engineering at the season finale of the Formula Renault 3.5 , in the overall ranking of which he was 37th. He then took part in four A1 Grand Prix races for the British team in winter 2006/2007 . He achieved two second places and one victory. After the season he switched to the Japanese Formula 3 championship at TOM’S . Jarvis was the driver with the most podium finishes with 16 podium finishes out of 20 races. While his teammate Kazuya Ōshima won the championship title, Jarvis finished the season in third place in the championship with three wins. In November Jarvis took part in the Macau Grand Prix for TOM'S . He started from pole position and won the race in front of Kōdai Tsukakoshi and Ōshima. In addition, this year he took part in two races of the British Porsche Carrera Cup and in one race of the Super GT , which he won. In the 2007/2008 season Jarvis shared the British A1GP cockpit with Robbie Kerr and started half a season in the championship. He won a race and the team finished the season in third place.

In 2008 Jarvis left formula racing and switched to touring car racing . For Team Phoenix he received a DTM cockpit in an Audi A4 DTM from the previous year. While his team mate Alexandre Prémat finished tenth overall, Jarvis was thirteenth overall with fifth place as the best result. In 2009 Jarvis stayed with Team Phoenix and in third place achieved his first podium finish in the DTM at the season opener. At the fourth race of the season in Zandvoort , he was the first driver to achieve pole position with a so-called “year-old car”. With a second place in the race, he achieved his best result in the DTM to date. At the end of the season, he finished ninth overall as the best driver of an Audi annual car. Jarvis also took part in two races in the Asian Le Mans Series for Team Kolles . With a podium placement, he finished fourth in the LMP1 classification.

After Tom Kristensen left the DTM, Jarvis received a current Audi model for the 2010 DTM season and switched to Abt Sportsline . With fourth place as the best result, he finished the season as the worst driver of his team in ninth place overall. In 2010 , Jarvis also took part in the Le Mans 24-hour race for the first time in an Audi R10 TDI entered by Kolles . In 2011 Jarvis stayed with Abt Sportsline. After two races without points , he finished the race in Spielberg in third place. It was his first podium finish since he switched to Abt. He finished the season as the worst driver of a current Audi vehicle in tenth place overall.

In 2012 Jarvis did not receive a DTM cockpit at Audi. Instead, he will take part in the Le Mans 24-hour race for Audi .

Jarvis has lived in Ermatingen on Lake Constance since 2009 .

Awards

The British Racing Drivers' Club honored the then 21-year-old as a “Rising Star” in 2005, and in the same year he won the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award .
