The Audi R18 E-Tron quattro RP5 is a sports car developed and built by Audi - prototype according to LMP1 regulations . The car took part in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2015 .

Changes

Compared to the previous year's vehicle , numerous changes have been made. Most noticeable is the redesigned front with differently positioned headlights for better aerodynamics . The hybrid system has been extensively revised. As a result, the vehicle was upgraded to the four megajoule class at the Le Mans 24-hour race . The previous year's vehicle was still in the two-megajoule class and therefore at a disadvantage compared to the Porsche 919 Hybrid and the Toyota TS040 Hybrid .

Races

Audi fielded two vehicles in the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship , and a third vehicle was also used in Spa and Le-Mans.

The first two 6-hour races of the season at Silverstone and Spa were won, but the rest of the season was beaten by the Porsche team . The overall standings ended in second and fourth place.

Driver line-up

There are two changes to the Audi squad compared to last year: Briton Oliver Jarvis replaces Dane Tom Kristensen , who retired at the end of the 2014 WEC season. The second change is that Mike Rockenfeller was promoted to reserve driver, replacing the Spaniard Marc Gené , who joined Nissan earlier this year.
