Marco Bonanomi
Marco Bonanomi (born March 12, 1985 in Lecco ) is an Italian racing driver .
Career
Bonanomi began his motorsport career in 1997 in kart racing , in which he remained active until 2001. In 2001 he made his debut in formula racing . For Cram Competition he took part in four races of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and one race of the Italian Formula Renault. In 2002 Bonanomi switched to RP Motorsport . He was 15th in the Italian Formula Renault and drove in some races of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup.
In 2003 Bonanomi received a cockpit in the Italian Formula 3 championship at Coloni Motorsport . With a race win he finished fourth in the overall standings. Internally he was defeated by Christian Montanari with 77 to 98 points. In 2004 Bonanomi moved to Team Ghinzani in the Formula 3 Euro Series . With an eleventh place as the best result, he remained without points and finished the championship in 25th place. In addition, he drove six races in the Italian Formula 3 championship for the Ghinzani team and the Corbetta Angelo racing team , three of which he won. In 2005 Bonanomi played his second season in the Formula 3 Euro Series for the Prema Powerteam . With a third place as the best result, he reached eleventh place overall.
In 2006 Bonanomi returned to Coloni, who competed that year under the name Fisichella Motor Sport International , and competed in the Euroseries 3000 . He won six races. While his teammate Giacomo Ricci won the championship with 106 points, he reached second championship rank with 94. In addition, he drove four Formula Renault 3.5 races for Tech 1 Racing . 2007 Bonanomi contested the full season of Formula Renault 3.5 for RC Motorsport . He was third twice and finished 13th overall at the end of the season. He also drove for Euronova Racing in some races of the newly founded international Formula Master . There he was in 15th place in the drivers' standings. In 2008 Bonanomi was initially active for Piquet Sports in the new GP2 Asia series and won the last race of the season in Dubai . He finished twelfth in the overall standings. Bonanomi then drove for Comtec Racing in the Formula Renault 3.5. With a second place as the best result, he improved to eleventh place in the overall ranking.
At the beginning of 2009 Bonanomi started again in the GP2 Asia series and replaced Alex Yoong at Meritus for the third race weekend . He remained without points. He then returned to the Euroseries 3000. After two events for Bull Racing , he moved to Coloni. He won four races and finished second overall behind Will Bratt . The two drivers were equal on points and had the same number of wins. Bratt won the championship because he had more second places than Bonanomi.
In 2010 Bonanomi switched to GT racing and became an Audi factory driver in the Italian GT championship. Together with his team mate Filipe Albuquerque , he finished second with two wins. In 2011 Bonanomi had changing teammates in the Italian GT Championship. He won four races and won the drivers' championship. In 2012 Bonanomi received a cockpit in the Blancpain Endurance Series at Belgian Audi Club WRT . With a podium placement, he reached twelfth place in the GT3 Pro Cup . He also made his debut for Audi Sport North America at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . He came third together with Oliver Jarvis and Mike Rockenfeller .
After a year without racing, Bonanomi only competed in individual races in 2014. He contested two races in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and one race each in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) and the Blancpain Endurance Series. In 2015 Bonanomi drove for ISR Racing in the Blancpain Sprint Series and the Blancpain Endurance Series. In both series he reached 15th place overall. He also went to two races in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He also made two guest starts in the Audi Sport TT Cup .
In 2016 Bonanomi was again without a permanent race commitment. In GT racing he drove races in the ADAC GT Masters , the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup , the Australian GT Championship and the Australian Endurance Championship. He also returned to formula racing in 2016 and contested two races for RP Motorsport in Formula V8 3.5, in which Bonanomi was already active when it was still called Formula Renault 3.5.
