Matewos Issaakjan

Matewos Issaakjan , also Matevos Isaakyan ( Russian Матевос Исаакян ; born April 17, 1998 in Moscow ) is a Russian automobile racing driver . He started in the GP3 series in 2015 and 2016 .

Career

Issaakjan began his motorsport career in karting in 2010 , where he remained active until 2012. 2013 he moved to the Formula racing and started as a member of Nasha-Formula -Programms in the French F4 Championship. He achieved five podium finishes and finished the season in fifth place overall.

At the beginning of 2014 Issaakjan started for ETEC Motorsport in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand. He finished the season in ninth place overall. Issaakjan then switched to JD Motorsport in the Alpine Formula Renault . He did not join until the second race weekend, as he had only then reached the minimum age of 16 years. Issaakjan won two races and was third in the championship. He also made six guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for JD Motorsport . In 2015 Issaakjan stayed with JD Motorsport and drove in the Alpine Formula Renault and the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. In the Alpine Formula Renault, he won three races and was second on the podium four times. He reached fourth place in the drivers' championship. In the Eurocup he achieved two third places as the best results and was tenth in the overall ranking. In addition, Issakjan took part in two events of the 2015 GP3 series for Koiranen GP .

In 2016 Issaakjan received a regular cockpit at Koiranen GP in the GP3 series. With a fourth place as the best result, he reached 17th place in the drivers' championship. In 2016 Issaakjan also drove for the SMP Racing team, which is supported by AF Corse , in the Formula V8 3.5 in some races. He won a race at the Circuito de Jerez . He finished the season in ninth place overall.

In 2019 he took part in two racing weekends in the FIA Formula 2 Championship .

Issaakjan's twin brother Nerses Issaakjan is also a racing car driver.
