Changes in the teams

There were some changes in the teams compared to the previous season: two racing teams withdrew from the championship, a new one entered the championship, and two merged.

Exits

  • Arden Motorsport got out of the championship after five years in which it last won the team championship, as it did not believe that the racing series could exist alongside the FIA Formula 2 championship . The team announced the exit in March 2017.
  • Strakka Racing did not register for the new season. The racing team had not completed any races in the previous season, but was on the entry list.

Entrances

additional

  • SMP Racing joined forces with AVF after a disappointing 2016 season and started the new season under the name SMP Racing by AVF.
  • Comtec Racing and the Durango Racing Team are on the entry list, but have not yet announced any drivers.

Racing calendar

The racing calendar for the 2017 season includes nine racing weekends, each with two races. The events in Jerez and Alcañiz are not part of any other racing series. All other events are held together with the FIA World Endurance Championship .

Compared to last year, the races in Mogyoród , Le Castellet , Spielberg and Barcelona have been replaced by the Nürburgring , Mexico City , Austin and as-Sachir .
