Pietro Fittipaldi
Pietro Fittipaldi da Cruz (born June 25, 1996 in Miami , Florida ) is an American - Brazilian racing driver . In 2017 he won the title in the World Series Formula V8 3.5 He started in the DTM in 2019 .
Career
Fittipaldi began his motorsport career in karting in 2006 , where he remained active until 2012. In 2011 and 2012 he took part in the Whelen All-American Series , an amateur NASCAR series, in various divisions and competed in individual events.
In 2013 Fittipaldi switched to European formula racing . For Jamun Racing he started in the British Formula Renault and reached eighth place overall. He also took part in a number of races in the BRDC F4 Championship for Mark Goodwin Racing and won one race. He also started for the racing teams at the respective winter championships of the series and finished sixth in each case. In 2014, Fittipaldi drove for Mark Goodwin Racing in the British Formula Renault. He always came in the top four and won ten out of 15 races. He won the championship as the first non-Briton. In addition, he competed for the team in four Alpine Formula Renault events, achieving a podium finish and ninth place in the final ranking. He also made two guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for Koiranen GP .
In 2015 Fittipaldi switched to Fortec Motorsport in the European Formula 3 championship . He reached 17th place overall. He then drove in the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 in winter 2015/16 . He was the overall winner with four wins. With 244 to 199 points, he prevailed against Tatiana Calderón . In 2016 , Fittipaldi stayed with Fortec Motorsport and started in Formula V8 3.5 . Third place was his best individual result. While his team-mate Louis Delétraz finished second overall, Fittipaldi reached tenth place overall. The following year , he won the series title with six wins in 18 races. In 2018 he drove in the IndyCar Series and was one of three drivers who shared Dale Coyne's # 19 vehicle. With six starts in 17 races, he was 26th in the overall standings. In the same year he was also supposed to be a substitute driver for Renger van der Zande, who was prevented from two races at DragonSpeed in the FIA World Endurance Championship . In qualifying for his first start in Spa, however, he probably had an accident due to a technical defect. He broke both legs in the process. In addition to his engagement as a test and reserve driver for the Haas F1 Team in Formula 1 , Fittipaldi competed in the DTM for the Belgian customer team W Racing Team in an Audi RS5 DTM in 2019 .
Personal
Pietro Fittipaldi is a grandchild of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi . His uncle Christian Fittipaldi and his brother Enzo Fittipaldi are also racing drivers. Pietro Fittipaldi is a US citizen and a Brazilian citizen. He competes in motorsport as a Brazilian.
