Formula Renault 3.5 season 2011

The 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 season was the 14th season of the main series of the World Series by Renault , which was held for the 7th time as Formula Renault 3.5 . It started on April 16 in Alcañiz and ended on October 9 in Barcelona .

Rule changes

Sporting changes

  • The point system has been adapted to the standard FIA point system. The first ten of each race got 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point (s) respectively.

Starting field

All teams used Dallara chassis and Renault V6 engines. The Dallara chassis were used for the last time this season.

Dean Stoneman was signed to ISR Racing in early January. After he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, he had to cancel participation in the season just a few weeks later.

Changes in the teams

  • The Italian team BVM Target entered the Formula Renault 3.5 as the 13th team and took over from SG Formula , which had left before the 2010 season.
  • EPIC Racing took over the Formula Renault activities from Epsilon Euskadi before the season . "EPIC" is an abbreviation for Euskadi Phil Imanol Claudio . Euskadi is the Basque name of the Basque Country , Phil Payne, Imanol Zubikarai and Claudio Corradini are leading figures in the racing team.

Changes during the season

run

The racing calendar for the 2011 season comprised nine race weekends, on each of which two races were held. The run in Monte Carlo, in which only one race was held, was an exception. In addition, the race in Monte Carlo was the only one that took place as part of the Formula 1 supporting program. The race in Monza was held as part of the supporting program of the WTCC . All other races took place as part of the World Series by Renault.
