The Apostolic Vicariate of Harar ( lat. : Apostolicus Vicariatus Hararensis ) is in Ethiopia situated Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate based in Harar .

history

On May 4, 1846 the Apostolic Vicariate Galla was by Pope Gregory XVI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Pastoralis muneris from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Prefecture of Abyssinia . The Arabian Peninsula has also belonged to the territory since 1851 , which in 1859 by Pius IX. was outsourced as an Apostolic Prefecture based in Yemen , but was dissolved again in 1875 and again outsourced in 1888. On January 28, 1913, the Apostolic Vicariate Galla gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of South Kaffa . Another cession took place on April 28, 1914 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Djibouti . The Apostolic Vicariate Galla gave on March 25, 1937 parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture Neghelli .

The Apostolic Vicariate Galla was renamed on March 25, 1937 in Apostolic Vicariate Harar . On March 6, 1980, the Apostolic Vicariate Harar gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Vicariate Meki .
