Woldetensaé Ghebreghiorghis

Woldetensaé Ghebreghiorghis OFMCap (born October 12, 1940 in Maiweini , Eritrea ) is an Eritrean religious , bishop of the Roman Catholic Church and emeritus Vicar Apostolic of Harar in Ethiopia .

Life

Woldetensaé Ghebreghiorgis joined the religious order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on January 21, 1968 . From 1987 to December 21, 1992, he was the Apostolic Administrator of Harar .

On December 21, 1992 he was appointed titular bishop of Asuoremixta , while also being appointed Vicar Apostolic of Harar . Cardinal Paulos Tzadua , the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Addis Ababa , donated him episcopal ordination on May 23, 1993 ; he assisted the co-consecrators Zekarias Yohannes , bishop of Asmara , and Kidane-Mariam Teklehaimanot , Bishop of Adigrat .

Bishop Ghebreghtighotis was President of the Ecumenical Commission of the Catholic Church in Ethiopia. He was co- consecrator of Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel CM as titular bishop of Bita , Abraham Desta as titular bishop of Horrea Aninici and Bishop Musie Ghebreghiorghis as bishop of Emdeber .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on April 16, 2016.
