Zekarias Yohannes
Zekarias Yohannes (born May 13, 1925 in Adigenú ; † December 1, 2016 ) was Bishop of the Asmara Eparchy of the Eritrean Catholic Church .
Life
Zekarias Yohannes was ordained a priest for the Asmara eparchy on June 2, 1949 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Asmara and titular bishop of Barca on January 29, 1981 . The Archbishop of Addis Ababa , Paulos Tzadua , donated him episcopal ordination on June 6 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Asrate Mariam Yemmeru , Old Archbishop of Addis Ababa, and François Abraha , Bishop of Asmara.
On July 17, 1984, he was appointed Bishop of Asmara. On June 25, 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
