Abraham Desta (born March 21, 1951 in Meda-Sebea , Ethiopia ) is Bishop and Vicar Apostolic of Meki in Ethiopia.

Life

Abraham Desta studied at the seminary of the Diocese of Adigrat and was ordained a diocesan priest on April 20, 1980 in Adigrat . After ordination, he studied at a Jesuit school in Ireland and received a license in dogmatics , theology and parish pastoral care . After his return, he held various responsibilities: he first nine years rain at the seminary in Adigrat, followed by use as Secretary of the Bishop of Adigrat and head of pastoral care and education of young people. This was followed by seven years as director of the Catholic Secretariat of the diocese .

At the same time he was appointed titular bishop of Horrea Aninici on January 29, 2003, he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Meki. The Metropolitan and Archbishop of Addis Ababa Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel CM consecrated him on May 10, 2003 as bishop. He was assisted by Bishops Kidane-Mariam Teklehaimanot from Adigrat and Woldetensaé Ghebreghiorghis from Harar .

Bishop Abraham Desta was Mitkonsekrator at Theodorus van Ruijven titular bishop of Utimma (Vicar Apostolic of Nekemte ). The bishop's work focuses on the further expansion of the Roman Catholic Church in Ethiopia and on good - joint - cooperation between all pastoral and spiritual workers. To women in the church
