Bruno Méndez López (born April 16, 1990 in La Roda , Asturias ) is a Spanish racing driver . He became champion of the European F3 Open in 2009 . In 2011 he competed in the Auto GP .

Career

Méndez began his motorsport career in 1998 in karting , in which he was active until 2005. In 2006 he moved into the single-seater racing and was immediately runner of the Spanish Formula Junior behind Daniel Campos-Hull . In 2007 he switched to Spanish Formula 3 and finished seventh overall in this championship with two podium finishes. In 2008 the Spaniard stayed in Spanish Formula 3 and improved to fifth place overall with one win. In addition, he started in four races of the Euroseries 3000 and finished 16th overall in this championship. In 2009 Méndez stayed in Spanish Formula 3, which was renamed the European F3 Open at the beginning of the season. Méndez won four races and was two points ahead of Celso Míguez champion of this series.

After making his debut in Formula Renault 3.5 on the last race weekend of the 2009 season , he was given a cockpit at FHV Interwetten.com in 2010 . He only scored points in one race and left the series before the final race weekend. He finished 23rd overall. He then took part in a race weekend of the Superleague Formula in part. In 2011 Méndez initially took part in the season opener of the British Formula 3 Championship for Hitech Racing . He then moved to Campos Racing in the Auto GP . After the fifth race weekend he was replaced by Adam Carroll . Méndez was at the end of the season with a third place as the best result in 13th place overall.
