Rule changes

Sporting changes
The point system for the first race has been adapted to the standard FIA point system. The first ten of the race got 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point (s) respectively. For the second race, the first eight drivers of the race received 18, 13, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point (s) respectively.
From this season onwards, the Auto GP also enabled the teams to freely choose their numbers. Any one or two-digit numbers could be selected. The 1 and 01 were reserved for the championship team from the previous season, but did not have to be selected.
Starting field
All pilots drove with Lola -B05 / 52 chassis and engines from Zytek .

run
The racing calendar for the 2011 season comprised seven racing weekends, on each of which two races were held. Six events took place in the framework program of the WTCC . On March 8th, the second race weekend, which was supposed to take place on the Marrakech Street Circuit , was canceled by the FIA due to organizational problems. The WTCC decided on a replacement event on the Hungaroring , in which the Auto GP also took part. At the end of June, the Auto GP canceled the event planned for August 20 and 21 on the Bucharest Ring for organizational reasons. The track had not yet received the necessary FIA homologation . This event would not have taken place in the framework program of the WTCC. At the beginning of July, the Auto GP finally announced that it would hold its season finale in Mugello on October 1st and 2nd .
