Career

Like most motorsport people , Iaconelli began his career in karting . In 2004 he moved into the single-seater racing and launched both in the Brazilian Formula Renault , where he finished fourth, and in the South American Formula 3 , which he finished in fifth place in the standings. In 2005 he took part in six Spanish Formula 3 races. In the overall classification, Iaconelli, who started for the GTA team, took 20th place. He also started in some races of the Italian Formula Renault and the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . The Brazilian also made his debut in Formula Renault 3.5 for the Austrian racing team Interwetten.com .

In 2006 Iaconelli again took part in the Formula Renault 3.5, in which he competed for three teams - EuroInternational , Comtec Racing and GD Racing - in a total of twelve races. He couldn't get any points. He also started for Elide in five Spanish Formula 3 races and finished twelfth in the overall standings. In the 2007 season Iaconelli was originally supposed to start again for Interwetten.com in the Formula Renault 3.5. However, he was replaced there a month before the start of the season by the Russian Daniil Mowe . The Brazilian therefore switched to Pons Racing and finished 21st at the end of the season.

After Iaconelli drove in the International Formula Master in 2008 , he was signed by BCN Competición for the current season of the GP2 series in June . There he replaced the Serb Miloš Pavlović . His teammate at BCN Competition was the Spaniard Adrián Vallés . His best place was eleventh in the sprint race in Valencia . Iaconelli scored no points and finished 29th in the overall standings. In October 2008 Iaconelli took part for Durango in the first race weekend of the GP2 Asia Series season 2008/2009 in Shanghai . In 2009 Iaconelli started in the revived Formula 2 . After he got off to a good start into the season with a second place in the first race, he was unable to build on this performance in the course of the season and finished eleventh in the overall standings at the end of the season. The Brazilian had to skip the last race weekend because of a flu-like infection.

In 2010 Iaconelli was initially without a cockpit and was signed shortly before the first race of the 2010 season by Durango for the Auto GP as a replacement for Giuseppe De Pasquale , who sustained a wrist injury during the test drives before the season. At the second race in Imola , he achieved his first victory in formula racing outside of South America. With two more victories, he finished seventh overall at the end of the season. In 2011 Iaconelli switched to GT racing in the Blancpain Endurance Series .
